The HBCU Speakers Bureau and Research Magazine (HBCU SBRM) addresses the broad and discipline-specific issues and subjects that are both current and increasingly relevant in today’s world. Participants bring fresh ideas and research-based knowledge to the world of academia and to communities around the nation and the world.

The on-line magazine allows faculty, alumni, and associates additional opportunities to showcase their research and accomplishments through a variety of multi-media formats. Their disciplines address the health, economic, political, and social disparities among underserved populations, as well as issues of broad national and specific global interests and concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I SECURE A SPEAKER FOR MY EVENT?

• Please contact Gwendolyn S. Bethea, scottoncommunications@gmail.com if you wish to contact speakers for speaking engagements.
• Determine your budget for the speaker, which should be coordinated with the director.
• Select an appropriate contract among our contract samples and adapt it according to your specifications.
• Secure signatures from the speaker and the agency/organization representative based upon the agreed upon details.
• Ensure that deadlines are clearly understood and are adhered to well in advance of the agreed upon engagement with sufficient turnaround time in case of unscheduled emergencies or occurrences.

WHAT ARE THE SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT FEES?

The speaking engagement fees or expenses are based solely on the terms as specified and agreed upon in the contract.

ARE THERE ANY PRESS CONSIDERATIONS?

Speakers will normally follow the client’s wishes regarding press attendance at an event. This should be handled before the scheduled event. Such an option should be discussed at the time of the initial agreement. The speakers are speaking solely for themselves and not on behalf of any organization or entity.

WHAT IF THERE IS A CANCELLATION?

Cancellation shall be handled between the contractor, the speaker and the client. All cancellations should be made at least one week in advance unless in emergency situations (weather related, personal illness or injury, etc.)

WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THE LOGISTICS AND GETTING THE SPEAKER TO MY EVENT?

All logistics, flight reservations, airline tickets, and local transportation are handled strictly between the speaker and the client.

HOW CAN WE FACILITATE MEETINGS?

Traditionally or through remote access.
